Overview

Today’s post will provide a breakdown of Gamestarter and how they disrupt the launchpad scene for blockchain games! It’s similar to some companies we have seen in web2, but now it’s made for web3 and will run on the blockchain. Keep reading to find out how you can get involved in Gamestarter📚!

How does it work?

Welcome to INOs

Gamestarter will help indie game developers raise funds like other launchpads. Still, instead of offering tokens like they currently do in GameFI, these indie game developers will sell in-game NFTs as a way to raise funds. This is known as INOs (Initial NFT offerings) and is very similar to Kickstarter🦵🏼 and Indiegogo.

Usually, in Kickstarter or IndieGoGo, you provide funding to a team of people who have promised a product by purchasing their product at a discount for providing early support. Instead of sending a certain amount of money, you will buy your product in advance, and they use that money to fund the creation of the product, and your product at a discount is your reward for the early support you’re provided!

Gamestarter is applying the same model, so you will purchase NFTs at a discount for providing the funding of their game and in return, you will receive those limited NFTs! These NFTs, like any other NFTs, can also be sold! So these NFTs can be used in the game and sold for profit!

Gamestarter currently runs on the Ethereum and Binance chain, but you can only join the crowdfunding on the Binance chain and solely accept BUSD as payment right now. They are currently working on expanding to the ethereum ecosystem and others, but for now, you can only contribute on Binance.

Gamestarter have their own token $GAME, and similar to other launchpads, they will have tiers with each tier increasing your chances/allocation size! It's a proven model that works in the real world. Still, as GameFi becomes more popular, people are starting to invest a lot of money into gaming NFTs, as seen in AxieInfinity, staratlas and playcrabada.

Is it only fundraising with NFTs?

Fortunately, there are two ways to fund money within GameStarter. There are INOs that we previously discussed and IGOs (initial game offerings). IGOs work the same as usual launchpads, where you receive tokens for your contribution to the product. This makes Gamestarter attractive to both types of investors, the NFT lovers, and the token lovers.

Everyone interested in crypto is still warming up to NFTs, so it can be understandable why IGOs are more attractive to the average investor than INOs, and gamestarter has made it possible to attract both types of investors. Marketplace

Gamestarter will also have a marketplace shortly to trade NFTs. The NFTs people buy from INOs will be sold on this platform, and it is a great way to make a profit! This means if a game isn’t getting released for a while and you have your NFT. Your NFT will be liquid money because you can use this marketplace if you suddenly need some cash or you have decided to take profit and move elsewhere.

Examples

Dark Frontier - IGO

Dark Frontier is an excellent example of games being produced by gamestarter themselves, GameStarter originals. Dark Frontiers in-house game entirely created by Gamestarter and fund-raising on their platform too with tokens (IGO) so people can get the $DARK token for the game at a lower price as the game will require $DARK

Looking at Dark Frontiers, each token cost $0.05 at their IGO, but it is currently trading at $0.63 and peaked at $0.93, which is a respective x12.3 at the current price and x18.6 ATH.

Notice below that it mentions the base allocation. Base allocation is the minimum you will get, and depending on your tier, you could x2-x32 your allocation. If you get x6 allocation, that means you would be able to contribute $480 to the Dark Frontier IGO. That means at the current value; your $DARK would currently be worth $5900.

Here are some details of Dark Frontiers below!

It has some great partners, but the game itself is a good change from the current simple NFT games we have right now. It’s built on Unity 3-D engine to have an improved look and mechanics compared to recent games.

$DARK has a variety of uses within the game:

It is the energy unit of the game Stake/Freeze $DARK to claim land Mine energy or resources to exchange to $DARK or NFTs Use $DARK for upgrades and resources

PolkaFantasy - INO

PolkaFantasy was an INO held on Gamestarter, which means when you contributed $$$ instead of getting tokens, you got an NFT instead, as I explained earlier in the post. In this case, PolkaFantasy had three tiers of NFTs - Standard, S rank and SS rank, which all had their respective items varying in rarity. You can see it below! I took this screenshot during their sale.

Prices vary from $300 to $90,000, which is a significant discrepancy but based on whether this game gains traction in the long-term, this could be a precious play! INOs are just as simple as IGOs, except you can pick which NFT you wish to purchase.

Conclusion

I think gamestarter will result in some exciting rewards for NFT buyers, but I wonder whether it will attract the indie gamer crowd. I love the idea of raising funds through NFTs, but there should be more use to them than using them within a game, i.e., OG badger or such, for supporting a game so early. Some people may have to sell their NFTs for liquid money, but another form of recognition would be good.
